Emily has worked for UK charities for 17 years including Scope, Mind, VSO and the Mental Health Foundation in England and in Wales and become a freelance consultant in 2017. She has worked on equality and rights issues in policy, campaigning and social research including the implementation of the Disability Discrimination Act (now the Equality Act) in schools and across public services.
At VSO in Cambodia, Emily was responsible for a participatory research project into health worker rights. Upon returning to the UK, she supported VSO volunteers with their research projects in countries that VSO operated in. Emily is expert in using participatory and qualitative approaches in social research.
In Wales for the Mental Health Foundation, Emily has supervised two Lottery Funded projects – one with prisoners in Parc Prison and the other with single parents with mental health problems.
